Because nothing is perfect nope not even WordPress LOL.
To navigate to relevant posts use the categories list.
The page list does function normal if you need to get back to the

Home Page and the About Me pages and whatever else I’ve put

under pages it will work
the only thing is pages cannot be categorized only posts,
so for simplicity the categories is easier at this point for all ordinary posts.
I have no idea why there would be a page option if the only thing you can do with it is
have only one post on it makes no sense to me but hey what do I know?
